SO thoroughly agree. I'm about to go back and climb back in bed, dragging tons of bedding over my body, pretending to be happily dead. For a while. Then I will go back to doing The Things. The Things that need doing. That will keep me from kicking myself in the ass every day until I die if the stoopid MAGAts rewin the White House.

Thank you for speaking for us and keeping us in the loop.

Martin, thank you for writing even when you do not feel like writing. There are MANY people that appreciate your research and insights who will never click a "like" button or write a comment. I am a farmer deep in the rural MN maghat regions and wonder at how anyone can continue to support a convicted rapist and ne'er-do-well that despises the common man. One thing that I have noticed is that it is the dilapidated, rundown farm houses that display multiple flags/banners/signs espousing "The Chump." I am proud enough to keep my farm looking clean, trim and neat; I don't want my Country to turn into a disheveled dump of rusting equipment and dilapidated vehicles but it's obvious that others don't care if that happens to the nation as it has to their own properties...

I truly appreciate your research, commentary, writing style, and obvious proofing and editing to ensure a high-quality product. There are only 3 other political and/or historical writers such as yourself I’ve been faithfully following for well over a couple years and I have learned so much from each of you. Thank you for hanging in there for our edification. You can’t know - and perhaps it’s best that way - just how many folks you help with your insight shares.

Ironically, I just told a friend last evening how this election season feels like 2 horses racing in the most consequential competition…they are neck and neck, alternating first one and then the other at outstretching their necks for the winning edge. From my pov, the electoral college outcome gives me perhaps the most trepidation in this race.

It shouldn’t be this nail-nibbling close. Yet here we are and here it is!

Know that your efforts to keep us informed are important and you are appreciated for them.

It would be nice to be a bit less partisan. There are Republicans who think the way you do and who contribute to Harris/Walz for the sake of the country.

I've been reading your newsletter for a while now. Everything you write really resonates with me. Especially this. We are in a world of hurt here, thoroughly sick of it all but needing to hang on to the bitter end. And bitter it will be.

America's largest political party, independents, still have to makeup their minds. Or maybe change their minds. Or decide to make the effort and vote. Polls say, too close to call, so your job of persuasion persists. American elections are exhausting marathons of misspent money and bullshit. I can see how the whole thing must seem impossible to endure. Yet the peril that American democracy faces and the consequences so dire the job of saving America's soul is the most important thing Americans have to do this year.

So gird your loins, burnish your shield and get out the vote. Vote like it's the last time you get to do it because it just might be.
