Hi, I didn't lie about not running again. He never promised that. He said he was a transitional president, but when asked point blank if that meant he would not run in 2024, he said no, it did not mean that. Just because people on the right only hear what they want to hear does not mean you can, too.
I did not address that issue in my comment. Edic said Biden lied, but he did not. That is what my comment addressed. Facts matter. All real journalists should care about getting the facts straight.
It was not "blatantly obvious." Just because the herd made the same assumptions as you does not make it correct. Try actually listening and not assuming when someone is speaking, and think for yourself.
Everyone read into what he said and came up with their own conclusions. People did the same thing with Trump in 2016. I take people at their word, literally. He never said he promised not to run in 2024. If you believe that he did, then you are making an assumption, not taking him at his word.
Take some couples communications classes, and you will learn the difference. Most people don't actually listen to what other people are saying; they are too busy thinking about what they are going to say next.
This country would be a lot better off if everyone stopped making assumptions about what people really mean. Say what you mean; mean what you say, and don't read anymore or less into what someone else says.
I followed his campaign in 2020 closely and heard these comments, and I never believed he promised to step down. Again, I take people at their word and don't make assumptions about meaning. That is how you get into trouble. Also, I don't believe something just because other people are "pointing it out." That is herd mentality, another big problem with social media and this country.
I feel helpless myself. Everyday for the last week, I've written the White House, a couple of times quoting the poll numbers, begging the old fart to retire. This is democracy!
"Et tu, Brute?" is a Latin phrase that translates to "You too, Brutus?" or "And you, Brutus?" . It is most well known as a line from William Shakespeare's play Julius Caesar, where it is spoken by Julius Caesar as his dying words after being stabbed by conspirators, including his friend Brutus. In the play, Caesar is betrayed by the conspirators and is shocked to see Brutus among them. Brutus betrays Caesar because he believes he is acting in the best interests of Rome's citizens.
Lately, I have felt like this is what is happening to our President. Yes, I know all the arguments but we all knew his age going forward and did nothing. He has led us and provided some sanity after our previous President mocked the disabled, and told us to drink bleach to cure Covid--not to count the lies. Instead of being productive the top of the party thinks that now is the time for a change. To push our President out for who?
I firmly believe there should be term limits for all government officials.
Right now, I am looking at the betrayal of our President by those people and other politicians closest to him. Are those politicians really thinking in the best interests of the Party? If so, where were those thoughts a few years ago?
The actual historic Caesar was a ruthless power hungry tyrant trying to eliminate the Republic and install himself as dictator. The killing was an attempt to preserve the Republic and protect it from a man who had become addicted to power. Be careful about your analogies. This is not betrayal, it is people trying to protect our republic because they no longer believe Biden can win, a conclusion I share. Biden is noticeably weaker and more confused in the last year, not unusual as we age. But as I’ve pointed out over and over again it is the public perception of his aging that is the problem. Two thirds of voters do not want him to run and he has done nothing to change that impression. That is not changing and time is running out.
I was considering Caesar a man and Brutus was his best friend. I know Caesar's history. Why weren't these same politicians wanting to change the ticket a year ago? That is a big question for me.
A year ago Biden wasn’t showing the same level of decline. Sometimes you have to put love of country ahead of loyalty to friends you see taking a path you disagree with.

"I feel good, and all I can say is, watch me, you'll see," Biden said. "It doesn't mean I would run a second term. I'm not going to make that judgment at this moment." https://www.usnews.com/news/elections/articles/2019-12-11/joe-biden-suggests-he-would-only-serve-one-term-if-elected-president

Or used to deceive yourself.
Ok folks, calm yourselves. It’s only one point in the past. And this ain’t over yet. The important thing is beating Trump. M

I make no claims to journalism but I’m not the only one pointing out that this was one of his campaign messages…
