Joe Biden is In An Echo Chamber, and it is Shrinking
When asked who he consults, he says “me”
This morning the Washington Post has a comprehensive article questioning the advice Biden is getting regarding the election and the increasingly smaller inner circle of advisors around him.
In his interview with Lester Holt of NBC last night he insisted he is ahead four points in the polls, then questions who believes polls, then says he is his own best advisor. The Post article goes into a wide variety of polls from many sources and he leads by four points in none of them, going back two months.
After the debate and two televised interviews, he still claims he is the only one who can beat Trump, despite no evidence of that. Is this arrogance? It appears that he does not read poll results himself and, instead, he is given reports by members of his inner circle, which has shrunk to six individuals who may be telling him what he wants to hear.
Those feeding him poll results are themselves pollsters and may be manipulating the interpretations of the polls they provide. There is a huge problem with this.
First, it is in their self-interest to keep him running. Second, events in this election change radically from day to day and any refusal to deal with the reality of those changes is troubling. But the big problem is the fact that Biden does not acknowledge the threat to democracy we face under a Trump presidency.
This is not 2016 or 2020. As we watch the Republican Convention this week we are seeing a party that is organized, unified, and entirely dedicated to the Trump MAGA gospel. The selection of J.D. Vance as running mate only solidifies the MAGA grip on the Party.
Despite Trump’s public disavowal of the Project 2025 plan, the planners are doubling down and that disavowal was obviously a tactic to move away, on the surface, from that very unpopular plan.
But the popularity of the plan is unimportant to its creators and supporters. They will implement it in one form or another. The recent court decisions by Trump-friendly judges bypass accepted legal precedent and elevate a Trump presidency to a dictatorship.
Those are the stakes Joe Biden seems incapable of grasping or accepting. One of his repeated assertions in the interviews is his strength in foreign relations and it is true. He is our best advocate on the global stage.
But this campaign is not about foreign policy. Far from it. The three major issues, inflation, immigration, and Biden’s age, are all much closer to home in voter’s minds. Voters see them as affecting their daily lives now, not in some distant lands. Those are the issues they will vote on.
I understand Biden’s preoccupation with foreign affairs. The big picture globally is critical to the future, but that future is abstract to most of us when we are at the grocery checkout. Or weakened by fear of immigrants, fear exaggerated constantly by Trump with no basis in reality. But fear nevertheless.
Unfortunately for Joe, his massive first term accomplishments, including infrastructure spending, the Chips Act, and others, are also long term in their effect on us as individuals. At this point in time they exist in the past though we will reap their benefits for years to come.
This election is about the future.
To many of us this seems obvious but I question whether Biden is getting any advice contrary to his worldview, or if he is being fed carefully curated information designed to maintain a view of the world he wants to believe.
Consider the daily events of the last few weeks. The debate, the interviews, the assassination attempt on Trump, the unfolding convention this week. Game changing events coming at us at bewildering speed, and coming at Joe Biden too.
If he is not getting the full picture, or does not want to get the full picture, we have a serious problem, a very serious problem.
To be clear, because I understand many of you are Biden fans, I will vote for whomever is the Democratic candidate, including Joe Biden. But I believe it is critical that we question his choices, those around him, and the information he is receiving, along with his aging issues.
If, for whatever reason, he is not getting or refusing to hear negative information, we and the nation have a real problem.

I'm trusting that the Democrats are going to blast out the anti-Trump and ads closer to the election to keep them fresh in everyone's mind. Unfortunately the hardcore will never change their minds. My own "Catholic Matriarch" mother, and staunch Republican. refused to acknowledge that she knew anything about the Boston child sexual abuse scandal that was all the national news rage at the time. She stated, "I don't know anything about that" and shut down the conversation. She even voted for Trump twice (2016, 2020) before she died. I place the majority of the blame at theist religions who have for centuries psychologically numbed people to the point of robbing them of any critical thinking skills. Because if you can believe a man walked on water, fed a multitude of people with only 5 loaves and 2 fish, and literally rose from dead, all in defiance of the natural laws of physics and science ("Because God can do anything he wants!"), then you can be made to believe Trump is the savior to lead the people out of governmental slavery.
Like I’ve said before I’ll vote democrat no matter what. That’s all I can do. Yet Biden has been silent since he stepped into the White House he’s gotten done some tremendous things that just never make it to the media. For a very good reason. If you pay attention nothing gets spoken about until it’s complete. He’s kept quiet from day one which personally came as a relief after having to listen to Trump shit every day every second.
I believe that the Democratic Party has a plan from the start it seems extremely obvious that they are taking a much different approach than they have ever done in history.
In these days no matter what Biden says it’s ripped to shreds it’s distorted beyond belief it’s untrue talking points are blasted across social media like a cancer. For a lot of Americans it’s their life. If you noticed until the debate Democrats kept fairly united and that my friends is what it takes to win a race. Look what’s happening now media ,bloggers are picking apart for the hundredth time on Biden’s age and tearing apart every sentence he says. They are not super hero’s like they hope they are super assholes. Yes he’s old so is the rest of government officials in every freaking branch it has always been that way think Alan Greenberg head of the Feds his job was just as powerful as the President of the United States not even a shout out ever on his cryptic body. It’s always been a political stunt that they pump their party up every election year and I have lived my share of elections yes it’s different with Trump because the last thing he is is a politician he is a actor. They re pumping you up traditionally so you will get your ass to the polls and vote. You can look at all the polls you want till election and go absolutely nuts it means nothing it never did. What every one needs to do is VOTE Take two seconds of your day and look up for yourself what the voting percentage is on any presidential election it’s horrific for both parties 27% of Americans vote on a average you will see higher numbers and unfortunately lower numbers for presidential. Yeah it’s very disappointing to see all this I’m a great American and I believe this is the best choice yet never half of the registered voters just never make it to the polls.
