My father had a name for people who always have an excuse or blame others for their mistakes. He had a special contempt for these "alibiers," as he called them. Hegseth is only one of the incompetents running our government. It's as if the Keystone Kops are the Department Secretaries.

At the risk of piling on regarding the tariffs, there are a handful of stories today (I believe started by Pro Publica) about the tariff exemptions granted by Trump to politically connected businesses. One of the largest donors to Trump, for example, got a carve out for a plastic- based chemical needed for its manufacturing. In the olden days, this kind of political favor would receive broad coverage, but there is so much rot afoot, no one can keep up. At least some have theorized the tariffs are just another opportunity for Trump grift - official organized crime.

in 2011, i wrote (you'll have to make my word for it) that by 2016 or 20, the USA would have a fascist president.

in 2013 I published a book, trying to put the message across, that the time of ''more'' of everything was over.

I called it "The End of More''---even then i had doubts that made sense of our future.... At least wrote it down, I'm glad I did.

that train of thought, and the way things have gone since, led me to the forecast of ''mid 2020s'' for the beginning of collapse of our capitalist economic system

Because Capitalism can only function on infinite capital---that was the core of my reasoning. The don says we have infinite capital. Common sense says we do not.

i took no pleasure that my forecast was right on the button when Biden lost, and Jan 20th 2025 arrived, and the chaos began. i felt physically sick, because the future was unfolding just as i said it would.....I didn't want to right.

but few of us can be absolved of complicity, no matter how much we detest the orange one.

trump is the terminal symptom, not the disease itself, we are all responsible for putting him there---greed has been our motivation, he is the personification of that, as are the servile lackeys who praise his dress sense.

And whatever happened with the insider trading debacle? Too many things swept under the rug.
