Walz is providing a spark of light in this dark time. Let's hope it ignites!

Though only four years older than me, Chuck Schumer comes across as a doddering old grandpa now, and needs to be replaced as leader of the Democratic caucus in the Senate. And I believe Tim Walz is still governor of MInnesota.

Jeff, I think the most important thing about what Walz is doing is he is setting an example for how to resist by getting out in red states and listening to people, all the people. Yes, I think you’re right about him being governor.

I've already sent Schumer 3 E-Mails this week urging him not to support the CR. In my E-Mail this morning I wrote if he isn't prepared to lead the party in the Senate, hand over leadership to someone else. I consider myself a moderate and have supported Schumer for many years, but he is shying at the jump the first chance he get to standup since last November. By the way the junior Senator from New York is following his lead. It's pathetic.

I have a question: If the government had shut down, would that not have made it easier for Trump and Musk to do more or less what they wanted? I also think one of the concerns was that the nation would blame the Democrats for the shutdown --it has been that way forever--whichever party was in power was blamed for the shutdown, and history was not kind. What I do think is that the Democrats need to find their backbone and act upon some sort of strategy. Right now, the bully is calling the shots, and we look like the Keystone Cops. Not a good look at all.

It would be good to remember that the Nazis were able to take over in Germany because there was a bad recession and people were out of work. They needed a scapegoat to blame it on and that became the Jews.

Trump's rhetoric is way too similar. Let's blame it all on the immigrants.
