I agree BUT and it's a big BUT. We lost to trump because we ran a woman, a part black, part Asian woman. It didn't bother me nor seventy five million others but it bothered enough to put trump over the top. I don't think we are ready to take a chance on a gay person even though he would be a great POTUS.
Buttigieg is gay but not queer. He's what Vance and many of us call a "normal gay." His sexuality isn't his entire identity, and that's why he is respected.
I think you're on to something. I would support Pete in a heartbeat. But the Democratic party did this to themselves by totally ignoring the fundamental problem that even Trump recognizes (though has an inept answer): It's the economy, stupid. And no, it's not as good as Biden keeps saying because most people aren't "feeling it". And it goes back to stagnant wages while business owners and corporations continue to rack up unbelievable profits. It wealth hoarding (and the lying) by those who are already wealthy that is the driver of the frustrustration. Tax the fucking wealthy. They're not going to feel the hurt.

I would love to live in a world where it doesn't matter about race, religion, sexuality, etc. But that's not reality. Anyone who takes a cold hard look at the world we live in, is going to see an abundance of: racism, sexism, misogyny, homophobia and a whole bunch of other discrimination. It's head-out-of-ass time!
If there is another election in 2028, the incumbent, (Trump? Vance?), will almost certainly lose. Not because the Dems have selected a brilliant candidate, but because the underlying, societal, problems have not been fixed - and the Dem candidate is a straight white guy. Someone like Gavin Newsom.
Read in medium about the collapse of the AMOC which is going to happen whomever is in power. This is going to happen soon. No turning back. Should be in the headlines but nobody is listening. The east coast could be under water.
