The Senate may not Rubber Stamp Trumps appointments. All it takes is three Republican Senators voting with the Democrats to stop Trump on a specific vote. Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and Mitt Romney for example
Thanks Martin. I don't know how you do it, keeping on writing when it so awful. Just finding a way to describe it is difficult. The comparison with Mussolini is good, though what can we know who weren't there.
I'm not there in your land, I'm in Australia, but you know, two days after the election result, the leader of our right wing party was trying on some of the lines that seemed to have worked for Trump. Those ideas travel. But so do yours, and they are strong and heartfelt and I appreciate what your doing, being a witness.
An apt and, in my view, both an accurate and foreboding summary of what has happened and what is coming.
Although I can readily point to many factors that have allowed or even been causative in the ludicrous and appalling re-election of Trump, I still find it difficult to fathom how so many otherwise presumably reasonable people have voted for this megalomaniac, a convicted felon, sexual 'groper' and admirer of dictators who are probably America's most potent enemies.
Thank you for continuing to point out these issues - though I really have to wonder, after the thousands of rational, reasonable, factual and justice supporting words I have read from those such as yourself - just how many people are listening and just how many care and how many remain deluded.
I’m viewing from afar also and I genuinely feel for those closer to this disaster and appreciate your consistent reporting Martin. We can only hope that with Trump’s choice of such a band of incompetents and stooges, the whole thing will implode in short order and not take the entire country (and the wider world) down with it. Thank you for not succumbing to the temptation to disengage, as so many people I know here seem to have.

Unfortunately, Romney will be gone.

Thank you. We need your writing.
Can we say the Supreme Court is also responsible for these Looney Tunes?
Unfortunately, too true. Our laziness has allowed our stupidity to take over. 51% want to be led like sheep.
Clowns to the left of him, jokers to the right . . . So very cynical.
Mussolini is an apt comparison. And unlike Hitler, his own people executed him and publicly mutilated his body. A cautionary tale? Time will tell.
During his 1st presidency, all the normal repubs jumped ship. It's what will happen this time, too. The ones who can actually do something turn & run.
