No, it's not my fault. I'm white, I'm conservative, I'm well educated, Christian, a retired professional, with a happily heterosexual orientation. willing to tolerate -- and even try to understand -- hand-wringing crybabies like Martin Edic who hates Trump so much he can't stop whining about him on a public dialogue platform almost day in and day out. It would be a real tragedy for Martin Edic if Trump were to die (as he inevitably will do someday). Then what would Martin Edic have to wring his polemic hanky about? The weather??

Trump is definitely going to die, and not just "someday" but the USA will be cleaning up after him for a very long time, if it still exists at all, if we've kept our republic, as Ben Franklin challenged. The weather is symptom of all of us and how we've allowed Trump and his ilk to be "normalized." I'm 80, I remember when our newscasters called a spade a spade. We're treating a sociopath as a legitimate candidate, and those he installed in the Supreme Court as also above the law. I am grateful for Trump, who promised to drain the swamp. It may not be the way many expected, but it has happened and we now see what we need to change to "keep" our republic for our kids and grandkids.

WOW. You missed the point

With respect, I'd say I hit "the point" square in the bull's-eye. But you stay out there in left field, if that's your best thinking.

What in God’s name does your color, education, and sexual orientation have to do with any of this? I can see where being a retired “Christian” conservative figures into the matrix here. As Cory Doctorow (a Canadian blogger and journalist) so well put it: “A pathology of conservatism is that ‘things used to be simple.’ No, you used to be a kid. Your parents shielded you from life’s complexity. Things are complex because you’re an adult now. Conservatism is the desire to be a child.” You know. Like when America was ‘Great’ (for some people.....)

As far as being a “Christian” is concerned, today’s so-called Christians would not tolerate a brown-skinned, long-haired, unemployed ‘migrant’ like Jesus for one minute, let alone give a listen to his Sermon on the Mount. “Get a job!” they would yell, and take your Commie Pinko Socialist Jew-boy ass back across that border with all your fancy talk about “Do Unto Others and being Thy Brother’s Keeper!!!”

I'd certainly turn my back on a superior, condescending ass like you without a second thought. You and Martin Edic seem made for each other.

Oh, you must be another one of those Trump-deranged left-wingers who wants to stifle all "free" speech you don't like. No, I won't stop reading and commenting freely on all the limp-wristed left-wing crybaby drivel I find, because that's a fundamental right guaranteed by the United States Constitution (last time I checked). So suck it up, Buttercup.

And you must be a very unhappy, unpleasant and venal creep.

Thanks, Martin. You are exactly right. As someone who was around in the early 70’s which was our last best chance to stop drastically warming the planet by interfering with the natural balance of CO2, methane, and other gases in the atmosphere, I was aware that humanity seriously dropped the ball. Oil companies decided that stockholders, board members, and Wall Street were all more important than the fate of the planet. The science behind what was happening was known more than 100 years ago. But it was the 20th century which really pushed the problem ‘Pedal to the Metal’, thanks to propaganda generated by Big Oil, whose own scientists had warned their superiors about the hazards that lay ahead for planet Earth and all life on it. Instead of making those reports public, the oil companies chose to bury them and promoted their products with gusto, eschewing any attempt to reign them in. Politicians who are elected to represent the best interests of ‘The People’ were easily duped into believing the false narrative churned out by Royal Dutch Shell, Exxon Mobil, British Petroleum, and the others, thanks in no small part to being wooed and funded by a slew of self-interested lobbyists. Bribing politicians, alas, has pretty much been the norm in the USA for a long time. When you add to that a lying pathological sociopath who is willing to do anything to avoid finishing up in a Super Max for a life spent in criminal enterprises of one kind or another, including conspiring to hang on to power after losing an election, then the stakes are really high. But here he is, standing up on his hind legs and dissembling about what is clearly happening to fellow Americans all across the country from one disaster after another. And this pitiful hollow creature continues his refusal to accept the outcome of any election he doesn’t win. If Trump is again president, America will truly have the government they deserve. “We, The People” can’t say we weren’t warned.

Your article is spot on Martin. The climate deniers just can't face the fact their safe little world is no longer safe, especially many older seniors. Not matter how much they deny it, climate change is here and going to make life uncomfortable for many who are refusing to move from those areas like Florida, and southwestern states where extreme heat and lack of water are taking their toll. 30% of Americans have already moved because of climate change, including people who moved to Asheville, NC. Asheville has been ranked safe in the past. Large businesses in risky areas are starting to look at alternatives too. I wrote the following on medium about the mass interstate migration that is coming in the next five years you might want to read. https://medium.com/bouncin-and-behavin-blogs/get-ready-for-mass-moving-83c0eac4e12e

You are so right, Martin. The Bill has come due, and there is no ignoring it.

Thank you again. And we need these insights to talk to everyone around us to try to break through the delusion.

I mean thank you Martin Edic … but there are some people who continue to deny the truth. Someone (a Republican ) actually said to me « the truth doesn’t matter. It’s what you believe that matters! » The awful truth is that there is some truth in that position. We have to find some common beliefs to be able to discuss with people who want to deny the reality of climate change and the need to bring respect for the truth back into political discourse. Again thank you for giving is some ideas.

The earth has been misused and abused for far too long by people who have no concept of her power. She's had enough. The mother is kicking ass.
