Good commentary and keep writing. Yes, there are moments of gratuitous, or seemingly gratuitous violence in GOT but it was all in the context or framework of the world depicted. Even today, as horrible as it is, beheadings occur. When I was younger, I never dreamed such things "still" happened. I thought civilization had gotten beyond that point. Violence and tragedy is part of life. Whether or not we should shield ourselves from it, is up for debate.
Btw, I thought GOT was one of, if not the best series I ever saw on TV.
