Ah, here is the point. I hear you, brother. (Please let me know if I am allowed more than two "Comments"!) [Well okay I will squeeze it in here --- out of, Um civility] Here is what he wrote: "But the reality is that civility seems ..." Martin! You sound like a punk here! I see a direct and catastrophic collision between the two basic semantic components of 'reality' and 'seem.' Reality properly means what "is." What "is" cannot also "seem" to be. Ha ha. I caught you on that one dude!!!!!# (note: !!!!# always means in my writing it is being funny or supposed to be funny. Alternatively: "don't shoot me for writing this") Ackk!!!.....#
As time goes on, we are seeing things move too fast. Ideas I had ten years ago can no longer be repeated because the social context has changed and no one would know what I am talking about. So, kudos to you, Martin, if you can keep on writing in these times. And I would ask you, Martin Edic, to look at my own Substack. I pretty much agree with your views.
Tom, I generally reply to comments when someone asks a question. Many comments don’t require a response. I don’t get many here, yet, but on Medium it can be hundreds, so responding to every one isn’t practical, time wise. I’m interested in the specifics of what other writers are dealing with and how they are, or aren’t, dealing with them. M
that response by Edic seems correct. Certainly, any individual who is publishing on-line needs to make up his/her own mind. I tend to imagine myself interacting, and it can bring problems with others. It gets me in real trouble! So it is dangerous. You are talking to somebody about whom you really know next to nothing. And let us also consider how "interact" is a big marketing ploy. It usually means very little to the supposedly noble company that just wants us to "interact." Facebook says it wants interaction. Do you actually think this is sincere? And -- Come to think of it, I do not know the person who posted this idea about Martin Edic needing to interact more. So I should not directly address him. Sorry. Am I not interacting with you? So what.

" Civility means acting civilized, but in looking it up you will find it has variations." I am available for proof reading and editing.

Jacob, I’ll take a look at your newsletter. Thx! Martin
