This is No Longer Democrats Against Republicans
This is good vs evil, plain and simple
Evil is not a vampire in a cape or a devil with a pitchfork. It’s more like a man telling others small lies about cats being eaten or a shyster at a circus distracting rubes while his cohorts pick their pockets.
Actually the battle between good and evil is a lot simpler to define. It’s the truth against intentional lies. And this election is now about that simple difference. Are we willing to accept lies because they reinforce what we want to believe? Or are we ready to stand up and say, this is never acceptable?
That’s our choice this time around. The Trump/Vance ticket has chosen the route of pure unadulterated evil in the form of saying any lie they can concoct to further their cause. And to say so many, and double down every time they are challenged, until no one knows the truth anymore.
But they face a problem. We have built in bullshit detectors, if we still are questioning politicians, as we always should. And I can’t speak for you, but this shit stinks and I’m sick of it. Are we supposed to go through life adding up who we hate and who we don’t?
I’m not a hater but there are people I abhor. Pedophiles, rapists, racists, liars, and the candidates the Republican Party has chosen to support, Donald Trump and JD Vance. They are inhuman humans who have chosen a route to power based on debasing other people.
Frankly, it’s sickening. And if it doesn’t bother you, ask yourself, am I willing to defend these haters and why?
And that’s the problem. A whole bunch of people will not or cannot ask themselves that question. They have given up their independence of thought in the service of one man. Which makes them zombies, the undead marching to some idiotic earworm they cannot escape.
That’s pretty melodramatic, but I cannot see any other reason anyone would listen to their crap and say, ‘that makes sense to me’.
I’m not saying his followers are stupid. Some may be but not all of them. But those who are not intellectually challenged are something else, something willing to give up their humanity in the service of what has devolved into evil.
We don’t see a lot of evil in our lives here in America, though it is out there, often in small doses. Joyriding kids stealing cars with ghost guns in their pockets who have no visible future and no longer care. Is that evil? I’m not sure if it fits my definition if those kids’ options are nonexistent.
That’s another story, but they are not intentionally going out into the world and telling us whole groups of people are our enemy, and doing it for their own benefit. Which is exactly what Donald Trump and JD Vance are doing over and over again. It’s a grift designed to prey on voters who need to find someone to blame for their problems.
A con and not even a very good one. Honestly, I don’t think it is working, at least not on a scale that can get them legitimately elected. I don’t think that is the goal. The goal may be to keep the race close enough for them to call foul again.
One of the things con artists do to succeed is to create distractions like the claims about pet eating Haitians in Springfield, Ohio. That story ate up the news for several cycles, which keeps us from hearing all the other stuff they are saying. But we are not all rubes and dimwits, we have bullshit detectors and they are going off nonstop.
With a month or so left to decide, are there really that many people still thinking about this? That question haunts me because one answer is so scary. I’m an optimist but things like polls keep saying there really are a lot of rubes out here and they are all around us.
Sometimes you have to set reasoning aside and let your gut tell you which direction to go. Mine says the evil is not winning but cannot change its course, because…it is evil and simple-minded in its determination. And that may be its undoing.
But the rest of us, those who have not chosen zombie-hood, must act. Talk to others, tell the truth, be nice, and get the hell out there and vote these haters out for good.
It’s not that complicated.

Takes an Olympic-caliber hater to call someone else a hater and then hate them for it. Pretty damn hateful, there, Mostly Peaceful Martin.
