Lyin’ Kamala or Lion Kamala? Trump Desperately Tries to Find An Insulting Nickname
This is getting funny
Trump tried out a new nickname for Kamala Harris, Lyin’ Kamala, intentionally mispronouncing her name, but immediately realized he needed to clarify the spelling. That is not exactly a sign he thought this one through.
Though I thought she might like Lion Kamala. It has a nice ring to it.
And then his campaign had to spend a day debunking the story that J.D. Vance had sex with a couch. Ouch.
And this morning we learn that Vance had a close friend who is trans, but dumped them since in pursuit of his political ambitions. He has turned into the gift that keeps on giving. As if we did not need more proof of what a jerk this guy is.
The Trump people are not used to being on the receiving end of goofy memes and theories. And with just over 100 days until the election, they still have not figured out how to run against Harris.
Right out of the gate they went for the race card, calling her a DEI candidate. If you’ve been living under a rock, DEI stands for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and is the latest GOP woke thing. Remember woke?
That got Ron DeSantis all the way to nowhere.
I have the slightest notion that maybe the country is getting tired of the relentlessly negative Trump message on everything. The coming civil war, the hellhole we live in, the hordes of wetbacks coming out out prisons and pouring into our country, the Vance notion that single cat ladies should marry someone, anyone, and start having babies right now.
His mom, a single mother, had several children and eight miscarriages. Or was it his grandmother? Whomever it was, it means their life was one of constant pregnancy and probably misery, and now J.D. tells us that is the American way.
His misogyny is not going over well with the ladies.
The MAGA fringe has lost momentum and so has Trump, and you can feel it as the Republican strategy collapses and their constant harping about Biden’s age is now working against Trump, the old guy in the race.
It is kinda fun to watch, except for the fact that these people are capable of violence on a grand scale. We better hope for a landslide up and down the ballot because they are going to make post-election 2020 look like a walk in the park.
Meanwhile Lion Kamala is smiling as crowds of relieved Democrats cheer her on, making jokes and actually bringing some real fun to campaign that was wallowing in darkness and confusion, a place Trump is comfortable with, but that was exhausting the rest of us.
Biden’s generous and patriotic choice to drop out swept all that away and left us all blinking in unexpected sunlight. That’s a hard thing to campaign against, as the Trumpians are learning. What seemed hopeless only a week ago is now gone, one of the more remarkable turnarounds I have seen in American politics.
Of course the poll crazy New York Times is trying to rain on the parade, but citing polls made less than a week after a game-changing event is not legitimate news and they know it. Yet they persist in the name of ‘fair and balanced’, though their coverage has been shamefully irresponsible in trying to equalize Trump’s dangerous anti-democracy rhetoric with Biden’s verbal tics.
Today Trump met with Israel PM Netanyahu and baselessly claimed that if he were not elected there would be war in the Middle East and even World War Three. He then claimed these situations would be resolved instantly if he is elected, but as usual gave no details as to how this would happen. I guess he will just snap his magic fingers.
I’m sorry but that is demented.
But now we have a candidate who is not only a forceful speaker but who can mock Trump with the best of them. And publicly mocking and insulting a bully and narcissist is an effective strategy. But Harris is backing it up with real policy choices on hard issues like women’s reproductive rights.
The Republican response? To declare her unqualified to talk about the issue because she has not had children, though she brought up her husband’s kid in concert with his ex, who came out forcefully in her defense. The kid did too.
Again the Trump people didn’t seem to consider how many childless women they had insulted, but that is par for the course. They seem incapable of considering the longer term effects of many of their actions, a flaw they inherited from their candidate.
That flaw, by the way, is arrogance. And it goes before a fall. Yes, I know, that's pride, but it’s the same thing. Arrogance or pride, they have the same effect of blinding one to reality until it is too late.
Optimistic as this seems, I am feeling more and more like what we will see after the election will be even more ugly than last time. That’s why the recent news that Kamala Harris has the support of 94% of Democrats is good, if it is true.
At this stage, unity in the face of division is the democracy’s best hope.

You mentioned the arrogance of the Republican's candidate, but the truth is, they've been arrogant and clueless for a long time. The GOP was told long ago that they were going to have to change and become a more diverse party; they ignored that for doubling down on Nixon's Southern strategy.
