The Trump Campaign Has Completely Lost Control of Their Candidate
If they ever had it in the first place
Today we have a new wrinkle in the debate discussion and it clearly indicates that Trump is ignoring anything his campaign advisors are telling him. That’s not news to anyone. But this time he has actually reversed a position they had taken regarding changes in the rules of the debate on September 10.
This is really silly stuff but it illustrates the fact that Trump has no respect for anyone’s opinions or feedback. The Harris campaign wanted the mics at the debate to be on all the time, though the original agreement, made under Biden, called for them to be muted when one party’s time was up.
The reason for the change is entirely based on the evidence that Trump is incapable of staying on script for ninety minutes, especially in close proximity to Harris who seems to drive him nuts. The Democrats want the public to see and hear him lose it on national television.
The Trump campaign, on the other hand, wants to keep the mics muted because they share the same fears. There is speculation that they made that decision without consulting their candidate, probably to avoid getting their collective heads chopped off.
This is definitely much ado about nothing, especially as Trump himself, when told of the disagreement, said he didn’t care if they were on or muted, completely undercutting the position of his advisors.
A few months from now no one is going to even remember this tempest in a teacup. But it is a clear indicator of just how fractured the Trump operation is, with too many chiefs, not enough Indians, and a leader who has no interest in any reality outside of his own bubble, a place where he can say and do anything without consequence.
(This is where I trot out the cliche about this unhinged man having control over the nuclear codes, etc, but that scary reality should be pretty obvious to everyone by now. Except, it’s not.)
We see the same quandary with the media’s obsession with polling changes even though virtually none show movement outside the margins of error, making these daily shifts meaningless. In a reinforcement of the Trump bible analogy, we hear from former Trump advisors that he was only shown polls from Rasmussen because even if every other poll showed him losing something, Rasmussen always showed him winning.
Those were the polls he wanted to see, again showing just how out of touch with reality he is. The result of all this coddling and ass kissing is the chaos we are seeing across the Trump campaign since Harris’s remarkable rise to power and the Democrats unifying behind her.
We know Trump has a serious personal issue around women, particularly powerful women. They scare the hell out of him, to put it bluntly. He sees their role as decoration and arm candy and when they refuse to conform to that Barbie Doll mold, he has no idea how to act.
The Harris people understand this and are seeking to set him up in just such a situation in the upcoming debate so we can finally see the real Donald Trump without handlers or a hand picked audience (per the debate agreement there will be no live audience).
Ironically, this is where the managers of both campaigns are in agreement. Both sides know they are dealing with an uncontrolled manchild subject to fits and temper tantrums. Why this guy ever got so far is beyond me but now, once again, he is close to ultimate power, power that no one will be able to control.

I suspect Harris would hold her own in an unmuted debate, however as a member of the audience I'm more interested in listening to the substance each may offer rather than them literally fighting to speck over each other
