A conversation amongst gods
Elon and Don Channel Beavis and Butthead
Yikes
“Trump said he’d welcome climate change because he thinks he’ll “have more oceanfront property,” praised Musk for firing striking workers, and told Musk that “if something happens with this election, which would be a horror show, we’ll meet the next time in Venezuela because it will be a far safer place to meet than our country.”
~ The New Republic, 8/13/24
This makes me very happy I don’t ever go on X because it means I will never have to listen to these two idiot rich guys yammer about a world that only exists in their heads.
Think about that crack about meeting in Venezuela if the election doesn’t work out. Trump faces multiple federal and state indictments which, apparently makes him a flight risk. So maybe his passport should be revoked if he is admitting he’d run if he loses.
It’s super hard not to get cynical listening to these two bozos having a love fest on Musk’s propaganda network, a $44 billion dollar disaster he now sees as a platform for the world to hear his wisdom. There are a lot of former Twitter investors who are laughing all the way to the bank at his business genius. Now he is a political guru.
Being worth hundreds of billions has not bought him any common sense, instead it has entitled him to spout off about stuff as though the world is salivating to hear his every word. Add Trump into the mix and you get this spectacle of collective stupid.
Somehow, the subject of Nagasaki and Hiroshima came up and both agreed the cities had made great recoveries since being bombed into oblivion by atomic bombs in WWII. Both agreed that maybe these bombs weren’t so bad after all.
Say what? Ask the descendants of the hundreds of thousands either killed those days or who died horribly afterward from radiation sickness and burns, if they were ‘not bad’. Apparently these two are card-carrying members of the sociopath club.
I wish I could take some glee in watching Trump stumble and blunder while his campaign tries to act as if they are supporting a normal human. But it is almost as though Trump is thumbing his nose at his own people, except that his monstrous ego probably thinks he is helping things.
And speaking of his people, what was the campaign’s response to the Harris campaign mocking this bizarre interview? A Trump spokesperson called them ‘f**king cowards’. So much for civil discourse, a concept entirely foreign to both Don and Elon, who appear utterly clueless about how idiotic they came across while having their conversation, a conversation where Musk said it was great to talk to someone who made sense.
Beavis and Butthead indeed. I nominate Elon for the Butthead role.
The Trump campaign is having quite a week but they don’t seem to know how bad it all looks. Their claims that Kamala’s crowds are fake is a great example. It conveniently ignored the reality that these events are captured on literally hundreds, if not thousands of cameras.
Watching this campaign devolve overnight is amusing and sad at the same time. These are adults acting like spoiled children, over and over, and seemingly not having any awareness of what they look like.
The really scary thing is that these people think they can run the country and a lot of voters seem to share that belief. But I have to believe that many Republicans and independents are likely following these stories and asking themselves if they really want to support these people.
Maybe that is wishful thinking, but the more we hear extended bouts of Trump’s creepy rants, the more there must be some supporters reconsidering voting for a man who may very well be mentally ill and getting worse.
It may also explain why we are seeing less of Trump in public speaking at rallies and doing interviews with mainstream news. After his disastrous interview at the National Association of Black Journalists and things like this Musk disaster, it may well be that the campaign is trying to keep him out of the public eye where they cannot control what he says.
Every day we are seeing prominent Republican leaders basically begging Trump to stop the racist and insulting attacks and start focusing on substance. But it is obvious that policy and discussing serious issues facing Americans is not interesting to Trump. He simply doesn’t care.
And neither does Musk and why should they care? They are insulated from reality by walls of money and privilege, walls that often empower people to believe they are members of a superior caste that should be entitled to run things, qualified or not.
So maybe some people are starting to question whether they want to elect Beavis as leader of the free world. Maybe that’s wishful thinking on my part.

Always appreciate you voice of sanity and reason. Thanks once again, for all your efforts reporting the truth.
Martin, I have enjoyed your writing for quite a while and I agree with the points you make here. I would add that Musk's meddling overseas are very frightening to my relatives in England. They happen to have adopted children from Africa and they are terrified of the rightwing anti-immigrant rallies that Musk is promoting in England. By the way, your move from Medium to Substack has prompted me to do likewise! I have just started constructing my site but you can find me at Lizard Garden. All the best! L.E. Langner.
