Trump is bored and things are not going well
The Trial of the…Never Mind, This Ain’t It
Trump in Court: Boring? Yes, and that’s the best part. Here’s why
Want to turn Donald Trump into a squirming mess? Make him sit for days listening to people talk about how bad he is. And do it in a dingy courtroom that reporters describe as smelling like old soup. Not a speck of gold plating in sight. In other words, the grimy reality of actual criminal charges.
There are two things at play here. First is the tawdry reality of what he is accused of. The other is watching a narcissist billionaire used to being treated like a king and suffering from a combination of anger and boredom.
It’s a narcissist’s nightmare. Amplify that when the defendant is the first President in US history to face a criminal prosecution. Stir in a porn star, sex, payoffs, a cover up by a tabloid editor buddy of the ex Prez, who is throwing him under the bus in front of a jury.
This is one of those ‘how they make the sausage’ stories. We get a look behind the curtain to see how those with money and a lack of morals run their lives. Today the former National Enquirer editor talked about how he enabled catch and kill tactics for powerful people seeking to bury negative stories. He calmly detailed how he would buy exclusive rights to a salacious story and then never run it, as though it was common practice.
We are told that this trial is the least important of those Trump may face, yet it has many elements that the Trump campaign really don’t want revealed, and it is a laundry list of cheating and infidelity, using money to deny the truth to American voters to win an election, outright lying, the attempt to cover up the payments (which in themselves are not illegal) through legal trickery…it’s a long list of things the average person could never get away with.
We can’t underestimate the boredom factor. Trials are rarely exciting. They are the opposite. Tedious, subject to intense detailed scrutiny, long-winded, and uncomfortable for everyone in the room, especially, in this case, the ex-president, whose patience is famously non-existent.
Trump and his campaign have constantly claimed the trial publicity will activate his base and power up fund raising from that base. He has made numerous pleas for his supporters to come out in force and that is not happening. There have been a handful of protestors, but that includes anti-Trump protestors.
Trump falsely claimed the police were preventing protests by blocking roads and limiting access, but witnesses there said this was not the case at all. The trial is not mobilizing the base, that is plain, and it adds to Trump’s growing realization that this trial may not work out in his favor on any expected level.
What we are seeing is the level of incompetence among those carrying out the coverup. In a bit of a bombshell, it was revealed that the prosecution has hand written notes made at a meeting where they allegedly made the agreement regarding compensation for the Trump fixer attorney, Michael Cohen, notes that may change the outcome of the case.
Those notes detail how the reimbursement was over $400,000 to ensure he could pay taxes on it. And there was a $60k bonus thrown in. I could go into the exact reason it was not simple payment, but these numbers will become more important in the next weeks.
Trump famously believes the law does not apply to him. He leaves reams of evidence behind him, often captured on video as though it is meaningless. And he is known for turning on associates for perceived slights, resulting in many insider witnesses.
Finally, his inability to control himself even when facing contempt of court charges, insulting and threatening anyone he sees as an enemy is a major problem. Today his attorneys were chastised severely by the judge for those statements and had little justification for his dangerous behavior towards anyone he sees as an enemy.
Frankly, it all looks stupid at a basic level and so does he by association. He is often compared to a mob boss, but mob bosses are far better at making veiled threats and keeping their inner circle loyal. Trump stinks at it, which should make people think twice about him handling national security details, among other things.
You know, like those legendary nuclear codes. He needs money. Do you trust him?

He should be held w/o bail. Look at his crimes, including stealing top-secret papers. He's a traitor. Every day, I hope he has a stroke in public, not a fatal one, but one that leaves him with an even more limited vocabulary and confined to a wheelchair. I wish for him he loses his ability to use the loo and has to wear a bag for his shit. His followers would probably want to buy it; they've bought all his shit. I have CPTSD, and often, his face triggers me. I was raised & worked in a mob town, I knew many mobsters. He's not good enough, honorable enough, smart enough to be a crime boss.
