By the way, climate change isn’t going away by erasing the words
I Want to Talk About Climate Change, For A Change
Because no one in DC is talking about it
The phrases ‘climate change’ and ‘global warming’ are being wiped off all government documentation under Trump’s orders. That went under the radar with all the calamity going on but it is vitally important to understand the scope of this.
You may remember that last year Trump met with a group of oil executives and offered them everything they want in exchange for a billion dollar donation to his campaign, via PACs. I have no idea if that deal happened, or even how we would know, but if they took it, they got a bargain, and they know it.
And, it appears, Trump is delivering on his promise, so decide for yourself. Not to get dramatic, but if this took place he just sold out humanity for chump change.
This wasn’t much of a gamble for Trump. The fossil fuel industry has done an incredible job relegating the concept of global warming to an issue owned by fruit and nut progressives. Unfortunately, it has not been a concept for decades, it is a full blown reality, a non-stop reality.
Ask anyone in LA, North Carolina, or Florida, not to mention the majority of our country and the world. Simply put, it ain’t just the progs who understand the reality of this. Ask any farmer. You’ll get hesitancy for them to use those words but they know. Anyone who works outside knows.
The reality here is that Donald Trump has no interest in the future, or even the present for that matter. His only concern is his popularity at any given moment, regardless of what it takes to bolster it. He has kids and grandkids but so what? He spends little time thinking about them. Think about that.
Let’s look at the destruction so far in this administration’s actions. They have frozen scientific inquiry across the country with freezes on NIH grants. They are cutting personnel at the NOAA, including the National Weather Service. FEMA funds are being used as political weapons against states that did not vote for him. Federal licenses for new wind and solar farms are frozen.
Despite record oil production under Biden, Trump is trying to fill our National Parks, Monuments, and Forests with oil wells. If energy was really important to him, he would be investing in our rickety grid and more sustainable energy which is now cheaper and more profitable than burning oil, coal, and gas. There’s no economic logic to any of it.
So much crap has gone down since he took office that these things are way back on the backest burner. In fact they are the persona non grata of federal policy. Yet we do not have a week without a climate catastrophe in the form of destructive wealthier and this has been going on for years.
The costs are astronomic and the changes they bring to society are irreversible. Entire sections of our country are becoming uninhabitable as evidenced by major insurers withdrawing coverage for homeowners and businesses. The financial losses are inconceivable, and all for short term profits for a handful of companies, who know better than anyone how bad things will get.
After all, they have invested millions in modeling the effects of what they are doing so they can optimize profits while they can. And they have been doing that as far back as the 1950s.
The fact that this is not the leading issue for all of us is a stunning testament to the success of the movement to suppress and ridicule anyone stating the obvious. And now, using government to muzzle and destroy anyone attempting to change the status quo.
I have no delusions about this issue. I have been writing about it for decades. But few pay attention to me or anyone else. That has not changed.
I have written about the coming Trump recession, or Trumpcession as people are calling it, driven by tariffs and his unending chopping of government services that help businesses, large and small. But ignoring climate change and doubling down on fossil fuels may prove to be the biggest contributor to financial disaster.
Look at the LA fires. In combination with home and auto insurers pulling out or limiting what they will pay, those fires cost billions, billions literally up in smoke. Not just the homes and businesses, but hundreds of jobs and many left homeless with few options in a state already extremely expensive to live in.
Now repeat that scenario everywhere you see a climate disaster. Who will pay, who will help the people who have lost everything? Trump and Musk are already eyeing defunding FEMA, which is the only resort for most experiencing the total loss of their homes, businesses, and jobs. It’s easy for the richest man on the planet to shrug and claim he is just rooting out corruption, but who offers zero evidence of that corruption.
I recently wrote about the consequences of their actions, consequences they do not seem to think or even care about. Trump gets his talking points, conveniently lying and exxagerating to make them fit his narrative of a powerful President. Elon, when called out at Trump’s speech to Congress, stood grinning like a schoolboy given a gold star by his teacher.
On the same day 175 wildfires were sprouting up all over North Carolina and Appalachia, to be following by flooding rain and tornados. These kind of events are literally everyday occurrences, yet we are turning our back on reality because it is inconvenient and messy, not to mention unprofitable for oil companies and lobbyists.
Business as usual under the reign of Donald Trump.

.Having predicted a ''Trump" as POTUS as far back as 2011, i'll try another prediction.
his crazy politics won't work, but of course the blame fpr that will lie with ''others''.
sothe blame game will intensify, to the point where he will initiate some kind of civil unrest---using the clowns he pardoned from jan 6th.
from that he will declare a state of emergency, and assume ''emergency powers''---and the necessary martial law.
he already has ''immunity'' granted by SCOTUS
he will ignore the constitution
I am glad someone is writing about the climate crisis that is not going away. We cannot afford 4 years of this much less the destruction of our country. Despair.
AND yet, we just cannot give up. Keep practicing (green( doing the right thing), even if you think its hopeless.
We are being invaded by the Russians via Trump. Every day is an assault. We will need to fight back.
