Have They Finally Gone Too Far? Is That Possible?
Fantasizing about Liz Cheney facing a firing squad?
The next few days are going to be interesting, an understatement at best. For example, we’re watching the ‘women voting secretly different from their men’ meme explode. I wrote about it yesterday, noting I’d seen a few stories popping up about it.
Well, today they are everywhere. And it turns out there is some kind of horrifying conspiracy among women to do what they want instead of what we men want them to do. Kamala is apparently taking advantage of it by reminding women that their vote is secret from everyone and they can vote their conscience.
Scandalous. One Fox commentator said that if his wife did this it would be equivalent to having an affair. He should know because he had an affair with his current wife while still married to the first one. Yeah, you can’t make it up.
The real meme here is the fear the Trump campaign has of women. Yesterday Trump said Liz Cheney would collapse if faced with a firing squad, implying that she is a warmonger who never actually had to fight. This from a draft dodger who openly ridiculed soldiers for fighting for our country.
The women thing goes deeper than simply hurling insults, though Trump did refer to the sitting Vice President of the United States as a sleazebag. A sleazebag? How scared is this guy of a woman in power? Pretty scared apparently. The underlying story is that women are voting early in much larger numbers than men. That terrifies a man who faces the real threat of prison if he doesn’t get elected.
And we’re seeing the largest early voting ever, a stat that has Trump and Vance squarely in the headlights of some angry childless cat ladies who want to kill babies. I can see what’s next on the Trump presidential agenda: taking the vote away from women. Wait for it.
So, how far is too far and how long ago did we reach it? Sometime before 2016 is my guess. The recent threats against Obamacare show just how deep seated their right’s hatred of a black President can go. They want to kill Obamacare because it is ‘Obama’ care, not because they have a better alternative.
So racism, hate, embrace of Nazi principles, advocating violence for political gain, conspiring with our enemies, pretending to be the reincarnation of Jesus- we’ve seen it all practically every week this year. ‘Too far’ looks like the only strategy the Trump campaign has left.
From the beginning women have been the number one target for the right, starting with Trump’s overt video bragging about abusing them. That should have derailed his political career before it started. And that tape has resurfaced on TikTok this week, going viral again nine years later in front of a Gen Z audience that had not seen or heard it before. They’re not liking it.
Pretty good timing for that meme, spreading like wildfire just days before an election among a generation that needs to understand why voting is important. And why you need to pay attention to this stuff because this is the world you are going to inherit and this election could be our last, no exaggeration.
The question I’ve asked too many times here still nags me. Are people getting sick of this unending negativity and slime? And if they are not, what have we become? Are we really that hellhole of a country Trump is fond of calling the place that gave him riches, and that he once led?
I don’t think so. I can’t think so or I become one of those willing to accept this bile on a daily basis. I applaud those women who vote their conscience instead of doing what they think they are supposed to do in the eyes of men. That’s called freedom.
Reminder: Freedom is what this country was all about, from the beginning. It took us a while to find it for blacks, gays, immigrants, those who believe in different faiths, and finally, women. That could all fall to pieces because there are those who think it is all a rigged game, not because it is, but because a man tells them it is, with no proof whatsoever.
Vote.
