Release the Full Video

Let us decide for ourselves
After relevant committee members in Congress reviewed the full video of the first boat attack in the Caribbean and heard testimony from the admiral who ordered the three following strikes, it seems those watching saw different videos.
The Republicans saw the remaining men on the overturned piece of the boat trying to turn it back over and continue their mission to allegedly deliver drugs to the US. The Democrats saw two helpless men on a piece of a broken hull killed by a U.S. strike obviously designed to kill.
This dichotomy tells us one thing and one thing only. That politicians on both sides cannot be relied upon to actually tell us what they saw with their own eyes. There was agreement on one thing, that Defense Secretary Hegseth did not issue a ‘kill them all’ order. My only problem with that is how do we know that is not the case? We don’t.
Given these two extremely different versions of what they saw, there is only one solution. Show us the entire unedited video and any recorded soundtrack of how it went down, and let us draw our own conclusions. Did we murder those men in cold blood or did we destroy a threat to our security?
Until the video is released, we cannot have an answer that satisfies the American public, at least those interested in the truth. The reality here is that this entire massive operation is a sideshow, an extremely expensive one, that is built on the willingness to murder people on the high seas with no evidence to justify those actions, other than the word of the President. Not the most reliable source.
Virtually everything the administration has done in the past year has been a sideshow, a series of weekly distractions from the real problems it has no idea how to address, including one we all deal with daily, the dreaded affordability thing. Which Trump now claims is nonexistent.
Right. I wonder when was the last time he bought a pound of hamburger? Obviously never. But the rest of us have watched it double in price and then double again. That is reality to most Americans but it is not the reality that those in the White House see as a problem.
But the rest of us do and that is why they are blowing up boats and putting on a huge show of force in the waters around Venezuela. But the President, in a show of unbelievable cynicism, last week pardoned the former President of Honduras who was convicted of importing 400 tons of cocaine into the US.
If anyone needs proof that the sideshows have become the main act, think about that one. He claims he is protecting us from the scourge of drugs while pardoning a guy behind one of the biggest drug operations on the planet.
I really wonder why we are not going ballistic over that one. You do not have to be a rocket scientist or a political junkie to see how that works. It simply means that everyone who supports this President is capable of convincing themselves that somehow there is truth and logic here. There isn’t.
Every week I wonder when this blows up, when people get mad and call these people out. The Trump people are getting away with murder, literally, and are obviously consumed by hatred to the point where they think that’s a normal way to live.
The crazy thing here (there are many) is that we have proof, tons of it. Cover-ups used to bring down people in power but these days our entire system is a web of cover-ups. The boat attack is just the latest, but we have a video of the entire thing, and I’m guessing, a clear audio record of exactly how it went down.
These days everything is on the permanent record, in glorious color. So why not show us the video? There is no reason whatsoever not to. We’ve heard blow by blow descriptions from politicians on both sides of the fence, so they can’t claim it is classified or a security risk. Let us decide.
I like to believe that most of us can see truth when it is presented unedited. But we are hearing two different versions of the truth coming from two opposing political parties who saw the exact same evidence. There are not two versions of the truth, and in this case, we have the ability to judge for ourselves.
My guess is we will not be seeing that entire video anytime soon, not with a critical midterm election coming up. But the ability of the Republicans under Trump to hide reality from voters is collapsing, aided by the President himself and his Cabinet’s constant lying, exaggeration, and distraction tactics, tactics that constantly contradict themselves.
It’s a smoke and mirrors game but the wind is blowing and that fog will dissipate. What is left to see is going to be very ugly. Ugly people doing ugly things to protect a man who has done nothing for the American people after five years in office.
Nothing. Release the video.
